Lagos And Kano Are Nigeria’s Golden States To Emulate – Atiku Abubakar


Former Vice President and leading light in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has scored high Lagos and Kano States as first among equals and golden examples that others should emulate and surpass in the federation, as both cosmopolitan and historical states mark 50 years of creation, by General Yakubu Gowon (retired) then military head of state, on 27 May 196Atiku, an exponent of structured and all-inclusive governance, admires the socio-economic and political dynamism, innovation and evolution of both Lagos and Kano States from primordial to contemporary times. "Both States have wonderful and memorable historical heritage that dates back to centuries of rich cultures, plural dense population, immense socio-economic networks and versatile political consciousness.


. "Aside, both have remained true homes where all Nigerians of diverse backgrounds, ethnicity, religions and business orientations continually strive and thrive happily together," said the former public servant and ace politician, who constantly traverse the length and breadth of the country.


The Turaki Adamawa, in a congratulatory message issued by his Media Office in Abuja on Monday, heartily felicitates with the government and good people of Lagos and Kano States on the auspicious occasion of their golden jubilee anniversary. "I particularly rejoice with the traditional and political leaders of these front-line states; as well as their cooperative populace, which constitutes almost a quarter of the entire population of Nigeria. And I enjoin them to continue to keep the peace and engender unity in diversity for the overall growth and development of our fatherland" Atiku advised,


adding that: "It is not a mere coincidence that world class professionals, businessmen and politicians hail from Lagos and Kano States. The inherent healthy rivalry and spirit of competition, education and enlightenment provided by urbanization; often rub off on the character, capacity and competence of the people."


Meanwhile, the former Vice President and APC Chieftain also calls on Nigerians not lose hope on the country.

New Day Has Come For Nigerian Students Who Are On scholarships Abroad

  Today, I met with representatives of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for the welfare of Nigerian Students on scholarships abroad who are now stranded due to non-payment of their living allowances and tuition fees by relevant government agencies. At the meeting, I directed the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) to present a comprehensive report of all Nigerian students on sch olarship abroad and their outstanding entitlements to the relevant committees of the Senate to enable the Senate make Appropriations for their settlement. Additionally, I have called for a comprehensive review of all scholarship policies in the country — through oversight — in order save Nigeria from future embarrassment. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed former Vice President Alex Ekwueme be immediately flown abroad for urgent medical treatment, the presidency said Friday. PMB after being briefed on Ekwueme’s condition he authorised the trip. The former vice president, who turned 85 in October, reportedly collapsed in his Enugu residence on Sunday. On Monday, his family said in a statement that the former leader’s health was stable.
