POLICE CRASHED OUT AS PEACE CORPS OF NIGERIA EMERGED VICTORIOUS IN LEGAL TUSSLE
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja yesterday in a judgement passed by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, ordered the immediate opening of Peace Corps of Nigeria's Head Quarters which has been sealed unlawfully by the Nigeria Police since February.
Amb. Dr Dickson Akor, National Commandant of the Corps in a statement after the judgement said;
"No matter how long darkness clouds over truth, the sun will eventually shine to luminate the truth. Our expectations for justice though delayed, has finally come. The Peace Corps of Nigeria Headquarter located at Jabi, opposite Jabi lake Abuja sealed by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has been ordered unsealed."
Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja while delivering judgement in the Fundamental Human Rights suit instituted by the Incorporated Trustees of the Peace Corps of Nigeria against the Nigeria Police, and five others, stated that PCN as a legal entity has full rights to own property.
The Judgement also includes a fine of 12.5 million naira award for damages in favour of the Corps. "To say that the incorporated trustees of the Peace Corps of Nigeria's rights was not violated is an attempt to rewrite the constitution" Justice Kolawole stated.
