We need to pool parts of our incomes together NOW and start building FREE schools, FREE hospitals and FREE housing estates for the poor amongst us! The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja yesterday in a judgement passed by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, ordered the immediate opening of Peace Corps of Nigeria's Head Quarters which has been sealed unlawfully by the Nigeria Police since February. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed former Vice President Alex Ekwueme be immediately flown abroad for urgent medical treatment, the presidency said Friday. PMB after being briefed on Ekwueme’s condition he authorised the trip. The former vice president, who turned 85 in October, reportedly collapsed in his Enugu residence on Sunday. On Monday, his family said in a statement that the former leader’s health was stable. PMB's directive covers “the immediate charter of an Air Ambulance for the emergency movement and the cost of treatment”, a statement signed by spokesperson Garba Shehu said. The Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) has warned against an alleged plot by the Muhammadu Buhari-led government to reappoint the current Chairman and Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for another four years tenure contrary to the principles of rotation enshrined in the Act establishing the commission. The plot was allegedly being spearheaded by embattled Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr Abubakar Malami. The federal ministry of finance in a series of tweets on Friday stated how the $5.5bn Nigeria is seeking to borrow will be used; The $5.5bn Nigeria is seeking to borrow is made up of $2.5bn to finance the 2017 budget deficit and $3bn to refinance LEGACY domestic debt.  The $3bn component will not result in an increase in the public debt. It is purely a portfolio restructuring activity.   Nigeria's new Debt Management Strategy has main goal, the re-balancing of public debt portfolio in favour of long-term external debt.  What this means is we're going to be replacing domestic debt—which is mostly short-term—with cheaper & longer-term external debt  The $3bn of the $5.5bn is solely for the purpose of this refinancing/re-balancing of our debt portfolio. Attempts by a Nigerian lady to smuggle prohibited drugs out of the country has been foiled by Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Special Area Command of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA. The suspected drug courier was intercepted at the outward clearance at the Airport. The suspect Omotayo Anifowoshe, 37 years old and an indigene of Epe, Lagos State was arrested as she landed from Lagos and was to connect her flight to South Africa through a short cut linking the local Airport to the International Airport, successfully boycotting security screening point. She was, however, intercepted with two giants bags containing three kilograms of Ephedrine and 1.9 kilograms of Cocaine base. The drugs were concealed in the false bottom and false walls of the bags. Anifowoshe confessed that the luggage was handed to her by her fiancé at whose instance was the trip.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has endured a mixed start to the Blues’ title defence and they sit nine points off league leaders Manchester City. The west London club romped to the Premier League title last season but this term have struggled to balance both domestic and European duties. Chelsea were thrashed 3-0 at Roma in the Champions League last night and there are concerns the players are unhappy with Conte’s work-heavy training methods.   Today, I met with representatives of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for the welfare of Nigerian Students on scholarships abroad who are now stranded due to non-payment of their living allowances and tuition fees by relevant government agencies. At the meeting, I directed the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) to present a comprehensive report of all Nigerian students on sch olarship abroad and their outstanding entitlements to the relevant committees of the Senate to enable the Senate make Appropriations for their settlement.
